Residents' Rights

Each resident has the right to:

  • Privacy
  • Dignity
  • Independence
  • Fulfilment
  • Make informed Choices and Risks
  • Not being discriminated on the grounds of religion, culture, race or ethic
  • origin, sexual orientation, political affiliation and disability
  • not to be subject to abuse including verbal, physical and financial
  • Be involved in decision making in all areas of their life
  • Open their own mail
  • Lock their bedroom door
  • Be seen by the professionals involved in their care in privacy
  • Access their personal files and information held about them.

 

Residents' Views

Weekly house meeting is held with the residents at which they are able to air their views about Harewood Park. They are encouraged to make suggestions, choices and criticisms including of day to day events, menus and trips.

Residents have open access to the Directors, General Manager and all staff. Their views, feelings and opinions about the service they are receiving are welcomed.

A survey of resident satisfaction takes place periodically

Residents are aware of the formal complaints procedure.

 

Residents' Access

We encourage and enable residents to maintain links with their family and friends.

Visitors, friends and relatives are all made welcome at Harewood Park.

Residents have access to a pay phone exclusively for their use and the use of the office phone to contact their social worker, advocate or other professionals or in the case of an emergency.

Staff assist residents to use the phone, including their own mobile phone, if this help is required.
